Gender and Energy Expert

Inka Schomer is a Gender and Energy Expert with the Africa Renewable Energy Access (AFREA) Gender and Energy Program at the World Bank Group. She is leading a variety of gender mainstreaming activities in mini-grids and electricity expansion projects, pico-PV product market development schemes and the charcoal value chain in countries such as Liberia, Tanzania and Senegal. Previously she worked on climate and carbon finance projects and programs in the renewable energy sector with the Climate Investment Funds in DC and Camco Clean Energy Consulting in Johannesburg. She holds an MSc in Environmental Change and Management from the University of Oxford and completed a postgraduate at the University of Cape Town with majors in Economics and Environmental Management.
