Md. Mahbubul Islam is a development policy analyst with a deep interest and experience in socio-economical progress, with a pro-people approach to the existing global challenges to sustainable livelihoods, self-reliant communities, and protecting human dignity.

He has been active in facilitation and advocacy, having more than two decades of fostering participatory entrepreneurship, market development through farmer’s brands CHASHIR HASHI (smile face of farmers), and community interest initiatives. Over the past couple of years, his major area of concern has been people’s empowerment through appropriate technology, linking poverty alleviation in agriculture with household energy and biochar.

He has been associated with United Nations human rights system, and with different national and international organizations, which have helped to enhance his standard of service delivery. He has produced study reports for UNHABITAT, UNESCO, UNDP, United Nations University (UNU), Action Aid Bangladesh, CCDB, Diakonia- Bangladesh, YWCA, Practical Action Bangladesh, Agriterra- Netherlands, GFA- Germany, GTZ/GIZ- Germany, CIMMYT, Society of Justice and many local NGOs and civil society groups in the not-for-profit sector.

Mr. M.M. Islam was born in Dhaka, and holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics and law from University of Dhaka. He is a human rights activist and lawyer before Supreme Court of Bangladesh.
